High School Vaping Information Session

Vaping prevention presented in an interactive classroom setting.

On June 2, 2026, we continued our national prevention efforts with a classroom-based vaping education session designed specifically for high school students. These smaller settings allow for deeper discussion, clearer explanations, and more direct interaction. During this session, Dahlia walked students through the science of nicotine, how vaping devices work, and why the adolescent brain responds so differently to addictive substances.

Classroom presentations often create opportunities for students to speak openly. One student shared, “No one ever explained how fast addiction can happen. This helped everything click.” Moments like this show how essential it is to combine scientific accuracy with relatable communication. Another student commented, “It finally made sense why quitting feels so hard for my friends.” These insights reflect how prevention education builds understanding rather than judgment.

Teachers and parents benefit as well. The classroom instructor told us he felt better equipped to talk with students afterward, noting that the information was clear, balanced, and grounded in research. Parents frequently ask for resources on how to begin conversations at home, so we also provided guidance and shared an external educational source from Johns Hopkins that breaks down vaping health impacts in an approachable way:

This session reinforced the value of meeting students where they are—emotionally, intellectually, and culturally. When prevention is delivered in a calm, nonjudgmental, and humorous way, students stay engaged while still absorbing serious content.
